Software vendor negotiation & sourcing advisory

Your vendor sent a €5M invoice. You don’t have to pay it.

Enterprise-level commercial expertise for technology companies without a dedicated procurement function or sourcing capacity. Two services. One advisor.

Capacity: maximum 3 active engagements at any time. All engagements subject to NDA.

The situation

Your vendor priced for a customer who doesn’t push back.

Large OEMs have entire procurement teams for this. That expertise is now available to your company, without the headcount.

01

Black-box offer

Lump-sum pricing, vague scope, no cost breakdown. No way to know if €5M is right, or a starting bid with 40% margin built in.

02

A dispute you didn’t expect

A change request arrives. The vendor says it is new scope. You think it was included. Without knowing what to ask, you pay.

03

“The sub-supplier is confidential.”

Vendors use NDAs and Tier-2 complexity as a shield. Without the right framework, you accept whatever they invoice.

Real result

The €2M difference came from asking the right questions.

A vendor submitted a €5 million software development offer. After asking structured questions about how each cost position was calculated, the final agreed price was €3 million. Same deliverables, same timeline, same vendor.

The vendor had no answer for the questions. That was the saving.

Timing decides the price

The leverage is gone the moment you sign.

Every hour after the signature costs you negotiating power. The right moment to bring someone in is while the offer is still on the table, and the vendor still needs a yes from you.

What I do

Two services. One common goal: you pay what is fair.

One specific negotiation, or an external senior commercial advisor on a retained basis. Both start with the same question: what should this actually cost?

Challenge & Recover

A vendor offer arrived and something feels wrong. A change request looks inflated. A dispute is escalating.

Risk reversal

You don’t pay if it doesn’t work.

Every engagement starts with a step that costs you nothing if it leads nowhere. That is the whole point of hiring a specialist.

Free exit after diagnostic

If Phase 1 does not identify at least one material cost position worth challenging, you pay nothing. No obligation to continue.

Documented savings only

Any success fee is calculated on the saving against the vendor’s initial offer, or against the best bid in a sourcing process. Never against an internal target or a benchmark I set myself.

Low-risk first step

Every engagement starts with a short commercial diagnostic. If I do not identify a credible opportunity to improve the deal, you are free to walk away before the negotiation phase begins.

Who you work with

Enterprise negotiation expertise, in a boutique format.

Twelve years across procurement, IT and R&D, including responsibility for more than €275 million in software portfolio value at Volkswagen. That experience now goes to companies that cannot justify a full-time senior procurement executive.

I focus on the commercial side of technology: what suppliers charge, what should be challenged, where the leverage is and how to structure the deal. I get the deal done rather than produce a lengthy consulting presentation.

Next step

Before you sign, or before you start sourcing, talk first.

Something feels wrong?

Call me when the vendor offer has arrived and you need someone in your corner.

Service 01: Challenge & Recover

About to select a vendor?

Call me before the sourcing starts. Setting up commercial terms right from day one is where the real money is.

Service 02: Sourcing Leadership

Once a vendor has your signature, or your sourcing process is already in motion, the leverage is reduced. The time to call is before those moments, not after.
